Tolerance Level ?

Another post, yes, another BJP bashing. It looks like they are here as sea waves hitting the shore on and on. But we “pseudo-seculars” won’t leave you “pseudo-hindos” to let go with your disgracing remarks.

These “pseudo-hindos”, who are spread through various groups like BJP, Siva Sena, RSS, etc. are no-body in Tamil Nadu, but with the least number their act on projecting or presenting themselves in Tamil TV media is questionable.

Social Activists, Auditors, BJP Supporters, Modi Supporters are some of the tags given to them. Sometimes they are imported from other states!

Two unpleasant incidents happened last week in Puthiya Thalaimurai debate. Believe me, someone represented Siva Sena in the debate, wonder what is their agenda in Tamil Nadu. This guy named RadhaKrishnan, went too far and said to Gnani Sankaran that he will throw ink on him (Gnani) if he speaks against Hindus.

In another debate, Ramsubramanian from BJP opened his speech by wishing the viewers on Vijayadasami. He went head on with the anchor Karthekeyan and called media as “Prestitutes”, that too emphasizing it thrice. Ramsubramanian was a professor in New College, Chennai. Poor students.

For some time, Tamil Nadu BJP abstained from participating in Puthiya Thalaimurai debates, but since the elections are around in TN next year, they are back. Please guys, show some tolerance, at least in TV shows!

Modi 365 (plus or minus)

Last week, newspapers, television, social media and my barber- everyone was talking about one year of Modi government (Amma beat him badly when it came to the front page advertisement in all newspapers across the country). Everyone gave their report. All went to its length and breadth from his foreign visits to the Land Acquisition bill. 

My barber kept the blade on my throat and asked “How did you feel about Modi’ one year government?”. I became speechless!

He didn’t wait for my reply. He said “Amma vanduthanga illa, innemel all will be OK”. Apparently, he didn’t get the difference between the central and state government. 

So what did this middle class private sector working guy got from Modi? Of course, one cannot expect anything direct from the government, but still I want to list the changes this government did to me. This is strictly personal, I’m not going to say anything on what this government did for others (poor, rich and NRI’s).

They made me to get the long awaited Aadhaar card. They took away my bio-metrics (finger print and retina scan). I assume it is now in an American cloud. My face in the card looked like my “onnu vitta sithappa”. I already have a bunch of identity and address proof, now Aadhaar card adds to the list. 

They made to link my LPG connection to my bank account. I still couldn’t understand, earlier I used to pay Rs. 400. Now, I’m paying Rs. 600 and Rs. 200 is transferred to my bank account. If you are going to transfer back the Rs. 200 to me, why did you collect it from me? On top, I receive an SMS from my LPG dealer to give up the subsidies, which will help for building the nation! How do I know if my Rs. 200 is properly spent for nation building?.

The usual raising of the income tax slab was not done in this budget. This was much awaited, which would have impacted directly our pockets. Instead Modi said we have to take a bitter pill. There was decrease in corporate tax and he gave a sugar candy to them.

Apart from the above there is price rise for both daily commodities and fuel. 

Let us see how my money is spent indirectly. Why such fancy campaigns like Swachh Bharat and Make In India. This things exists only in paper and TV commercials.

After this government came into power, every day, someone gives controversial statements, about what to eat, what to wear, where to pee, where to spit, how many children to have, what to read, whom to pray… All this news fills my daily paper. I’m forced to read it and I get disturbed. 

Oh forgot about this fortnightly talk. “Mann Ki Baat” is magnificently scripted by the verses from the Napoleon Hill, “You Can Win” kind-of thoughts specifically targeting the youth (read future voters). Why can’t there be a “Mann Ki Baat” targeting the government officials, MLA’s, CM’s, MP’s, parents, teachers, newspaper boy…

Fifty Shades of Saffron

May 26th 2014- Since the day BJP lead Narendra Modi took office in Lok Sabha, day-in-and-day-out some big mouth politicians or people who perceived as Hindu sympathizers are coming up with innovative ideas and garb-talk to seek or divert people’ attention from actual issues. This has become a trend, every day when you turn the newspaper; some kind of gibberish is said by someone wearing a saffron-outfit. Giving an opportunity to our prime-time news anchors to scream in our TV. 

You might argue, that it is their freedom of speech, so is mine to list them out,

Statue for Godse - This came from the forefathers of BJP, the Hindu Maha Sabha. The perpetrators of MK Gandhi want to glorify the killer. 

Hindu women should have five children – This suggestion was given by a Member of Parliament, Sakshi Maharaj from BJP. 

Ban Cow slaughter in pan-India - Although the President of India approved the 1970’s bill from Maharastra, the central govt. is now considering the ban on cow slaughter throughout India.

Importance to Sanskrit – Central govt. makes a way with plans to revive a dying language (Hardly 10000 people speak Sanskrit), but in the expense of other languages.

Using Hindi in Social Media – Looks like Pon. Radhakrishnan is having hard time in Delhi, since he doesn't know Hindi. Someone should educate our lawmakers that Hindi is not a national language; in fact India doesn't have a national language. 

Remove Gandhi Jayanthi from Goa Holiday calendar – This was later said as typo. There are so many typos in this BJP led government. Government of typos.

All Indians are Hindus – Time and again, someone will garb this statement, starting from a Facebook Hindu fan boy to Subramanian Swamy.

Banning books – No one should speak against religion. If someone writes about it then it will be banned. Even if the book is not published in India, they will make it to publish and ban it. 

Banning movies – There is more than banning movies. In a recent move, CBFC has given a list of objectionable words. The words as like fuck, bastard, asshole, screw, haramzade… 

Christmas - Dec 25th as Good Governance Day – This is a ‘happy birthday’ for AB Vajpajee, so BJP want to celebrate it as Good Governance Day. This is like how Nehru and Ms. Gandhi gave themselves Bharat Ratha!

Mother Theresa Insulted – Insulting people who are already in their grave is a pass time for this saffronies. If her ultimate motive was to spread the religion, so be it, at least she was not spreading the hatred. 

Curbing Internet Freedom – Government might be planning for free wi-fi zones, we should use it only to share our selfies, but we shouldn't voice against the government.

Attack on media – The government will use the media for their propaganda, but if the same media voices an opinion which is not in sync with the saffron principles then they will be attacked. This is almost a norm for all parties, irrespective of who is in the power.

Hindu Rastra. Akanda Bharath – Time and again, these self-motivated groups have this agenda. They keep saying that the land from Afghanistan to Burma constitute of Akanda Bharath. Do these people know that there are national boundaries? The pity is when Kachathevee was given to Sri Lanka, these same group remained mute spectators.

Ghar Wapasi - You convert 1000 people, I convert 2000 people. Re-conversion has to be left to the individual’ decision, but not forcefully (Irrespective of any religion).

Kangaroo Science – Interplanetary Planes were in India before 7000 years. This was said by our own progressive Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this year Indian Science Congress!

Boycott of “Khan” films – Sadhvi Prachi, another “poster person” of these kinds of statements calls the youth to boycott “Khan” films. If she is so concerned, she should say to boycott “mind-less” movies, rather than just to corner “Khans”.

Delhi elections – The low point in any Indian election, the BJP went on with poster war to criticize its opponent by their caste. Direct attack on personality, which was usually seen in regional elections were staged in Delhi by Modi himself.

Increase in Saffron brigades – In Tamil there is a saying “Thadi eduthavan ellam thandal karan”, like wise if one wears a saffron colour cloth, then they are the savior of the Hindu culture. The raise of the fringe group is evident.

Removal of the word “Secular” from Preamble – This was again said as “typo”, when there was an advertisement on Republic Day. Later, even the cabinet ministers started to voice their opinion on removal of the word “secular” from the constitution.

Denigrate Nehru – If you want to attack someone’s principle, then the best thing to do is to make personal attack. Denigrate their personality and rewrite the history. 

Jammu & Kashmir elections – Will do whatever it takes for power. This has been the mantra for all the political parties and BJP is not shy of doing this, but to what extent. Align with someone (PDP), who has almost an opposite ideology. 

The count is not 50, but I believe by end of this year we will get 50 saffronic shades. Again, BJP is not directly responsible for all remarks, but when they are in power the saffronic groups gets a leeway.

Vijay Meets Modi - The Game Changer

progRAMme.. gRAM.. fRAMework... & RAM...

BJP is all set to release its 2014 election manifesto. This time they have taken inputs from the common man, that’s how they put up on their website.

April 3rd 2014 is going to be their release date. It’s going to be an important event in this election. One can access the previous three manifestos online- 1998, 2004 and 2009. On all three manifestos you can see lots of “..ram..”, like “Programme”, “Gram”, “Framework”, “Mataram”. But the one common thing, which figures in all three is Ram- Building of Ram Temple in Ayodya. Adding to the temple, they included Ram Setu in 2009.

1. The BJP remains committed to the construction of a grand Ram Mandir at Ayodhya. 

2. BJP will not allow anybody to touch the revered Ram Setu. We will evolve a new route for Sethu Samudram bypassing Ram Setu.

The above two comes under the category, “DEFENDING THE CIVILISATION”.

If Modi has vision (Yes, “vision” is what Modi-appointed media calls it. If “Amma” or “Didi” talks about becoming PM, the Modi-appointed media says it as “Dream”) to become PM of this wonderful country, will he discard both Ram Temple and Ram Setu from their manifesto, let alone they have a desire, but why put it as a document.

I don’t understand how they can defend the civilization, when some of their sponsors act in an uncivilized way to demolish a mosque.

The recent ruling by the Supreme Court of India on commuting the death sentence of Murugan, Santhan and Perarivalan has created a wide array of arguments. This article is not to discuss about the nuances of the law, emotional reactions, social implications or political loss\gains. I would like to point out something which is a kiddish argument in this episode, which portrays the lackluster scene of a government office/officer.

FYI, the timeline on Rajiv Gandhi Assassination case-

May 21, 1991- Rajiv Gandhi assassinated.

May 20, 1992- CBI files chargesheet in the Special Court on 26 persons (This includes Nalini, Murugan, Santhan & Perarivalan).

Jan 28, 1998- The Special Court awards death sentence to all 26 persons.

May 11, 1999- Supreme Court reduced death to life sentence for 19, while sentencing Nalini, Murugan, Santhan & Perarivalan.

Oct 17, 1999- The four death row convicts send mercy petitions to the then Tamil Nadu Governor Fathima Beevi.

Oct 27, 1999- TN Governor rejects the mercy petitions without obtaining TN state cabinet’s views.

Nov 25, 1999- Madras High Court defeats TN Governor's rejection of mercy petitions. It directs the Governor to pass a fresh order after obtaining the state Cabinet's views.

Apr 19, 2000- State Cabinet chaired by then Chief Minister M Karunanidhi decides to recommend commuting the death sentence of Nalini alone.

Apr 21, 2000- TN Governor accepts Cabinet decision to commute death sentence of Nalini.

Apr 28, 2000- TN State government forwards mercy petitions of Santhan, Murugan and Perarivalan to the then President KR Narayanan via Union Home Ministry (BJP led NDA).

Jun 21, 2005- Union Home Ministry (Congress led UPA) submits the mercy petitions to the then President Abdul Kalam  for consideration.

Aug 12, 2011- Union Home Ministry communicates to state Government about President's (Prathibha Patel) decision to reject mercy petitions.

Aug 26, 2011- Execution of three convicts fixed for September 9, 2011.

Aug 30, 2011- Tamil Nadu Assembly (AIADMK govt.) adopts resolution urging the President to commute the death sentence of the three.

Aug 30, 2011- Madras High Court stays execution of Santhan, Murugan and Perarivalan on their plea. Petitions transferred to Supreme Court later.

May 1, 2012- Supreme Court says it would hear the petitions of three convicts.

Feb 18, 2014- Supreme Court commutes the death sentence on grounds of delay in disposing their mercy pleas. The court also says the appropriate government may consider releasing the convicts under their constitutional powers.

Feb 19, 2014- TN State Cabinet decides to release Santhan, Murugan, Perarivalan, Nalini, Robert Pious, Jayakumar and Ravichandran. It then sends its decision to Centre. 

If you look at the above timeline, there is a delay in 10 Years & 9 Months - 5 Years 1 Month with the Home Ministry and 5 Years 8 Months with President. Being a highest constitutional authority, the delay by President cannot be questioned. But when we look into reason why the Home Ministry sat on it for such a long time (5 Year and 1 Month) is laughable. This shows the sorry state of our bureaucracy.

The Reason-

…..shortly after the receipt of the mercy petitions in 2000, a note was prepared but thereafter the file was lying in the drawer of some officer of the Ministry of Home Affairs, and, hence, could not be processed.

RG, NAMO & NOTA

Things are moving thick and fast in the Indian political theater. 

The action is shifted from Narendra Modi to Rahul Gandhi. RahulG was in a perfect state of slumber, in fact he was lost in the limbo, just like in the movie Inception, he was in his fifth dream and then he went into the limbo. 

Then all of the sudden he realized something or somebody has given him a “kick”. He woke-up and said “.. this ordinance is non-sense..”, I thought he is thinking this as Sep-2014. Annachi, we are still in Sep-2013, it is a pre-election year. He might have thought it as Sep-2014, where they won’t in power!.

This has to be a perfectly orchestrated drama by the RahulG team. In Tamil, there is a saying, nan adikuramatri nadikuren, nee azuvuramatri nadi. I hope that the dynastic politics doesn't get along in the next elections. This is not good for the country, especially if it is RahulG, a BIG NO.

Now, what ( who ) is going on the other side, Narendra Modi. The chest thumping, Gujuji, who is labeled by a section of media and his followers as the savior of India. 

He is portrayed in such a way that India is worst performing country when compared with Uganda and Afghanistan. Considering global economic conditions, India is playing a decent game. We don’t need a one-man savior. Modi, is too charismatic to become a PM of India. A mute box like MMS is good than to have a chatter box NM. 

With BJP already split into pro-against-Modi groups, they won’t find any consciousness to form a government, if there is a hung verdict. I doubt Modi can’t get along with other parties, as Vajpayee did, except few like MNS and JJ.

When Democratic politics doesn’t play well, Dynastic and Dictatorship takes a lead role. All D’s.

But, never knew, as Gounder said “Arasiyal iduellam sadarnammapa”.

The biggest game changer in the Indian electoral system is the NOTA, None of the Above. ??? There are several question marks, it’s a good move to secure the privacy of the voter, who doesn't wish to vote for anyone, but apart from it this NOTA is a cruel joke.

As per the former Election Commissioner, “Even if 90 voters in an electorate of 100 persons press the NOTA button, the poll will be decided in favor of the candidate who gets the maximum of the remaining 10 votes" . The math and reason doesn't go along well here. So if 50% of the total voter mark for NOTA, then every candidate in that constituency should be scrapped and fresh nominations should be held. 

The netha's will ask, what if this situation is in more than 300+ constituencies. ??

People – IT’S MY VOTE BOSS, YOUR JOB IS TO FIELD A GOOD CANDIDATE.

I’m the one who has faith in our system, who can travel to and fro for 15 hours to cast my vote. On some occasions (elections), when I don’t know whom to choose, I will vote for an independent candidate. Most of the time, this independent candidate will get only a single digit count, he/she must be puzzled of it !
